Safety

The parts of safety we can actually promise.

A rideshare company cannot promise nothing will ever go wrong. What it can do is be specific about who it lets drive, what it checks and how often, what it can see during a trip, and who answers when something happens. That is what this page covers.

In an emergency, call 911 first. PAXO support is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch one.

Who is allowed to drive

Checked before the first trip

A driver's licence, vehicle registration, current Pennsylvania state inspection and proof of insurance are all reviewed before a driver can receive a single trip offer. A criminal background check and a driving history check are run by PAXO, not self-reported.

Checked again after that

Every item carries an expiry — a document's own date, or the statutory due date for a re-check. When one lapses, the driver stops being eligible to go online until it is replaced. Verification is a standing condition, not a one-time hurdle.

Tied to a specific vehicle

Approval covers the vehicle that was inspected and insured. Changing cars means the new one goes through verification of its own; the current one stays active until it does.

Suspension is a real state

An account can be suspended, and a suspended driver receives no offers. It is a state the system enforces rather than a note in someone's inbox.

During a trip

You can see the car, and so can someone you choose

The rider app tracks the trip live. A trip can be shared with someone who is not in the car, so a friend or a family member can follow it to the drop-off without installing anything.

Both people are identified

Riders see the driver's name, photo, vehicle and rating before the car arrives. Ratings are recorded after each trip and are part of how a driver keeps their place on the platform.

What PAXO staff can see

Location data is operational, not a browsing history for whoever happens to work here.

  • The operator map is de-identified by default. Staff see supply and demand, not who is going where.
  • Identified trip data is available only when there is a reason for it — an open incident or a support case attached to that specific trip.
  • The operator console is reachable only from PAXO's internal network. It is not exposed to the public internet at all.
  • Sign-in is by one-time passcode. There is no shared password to leak, and a lost phone cannot be turned into a permanent login.

What is collected, why, and how long it is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Reporting something

  1. If someone is in danger, call 911 Then tell us, so we can act on the account involved.
  2. Report it from the trip Reporting from inside the app attaches the trip, the route and the timing to your report automatically, which is what lets us look into it properly.
  3. Or email us support@paxoride.com reaches the same queue. Include the date and roughly the time of the trip.

Left something in a car? Support covers lost property and how to reach the driver without either of you sharing a phone number.

Pre-launch status

PAXO is not yet carrying trips. The processes described here are the ones built into the platform and applied from the first trip onward, pending approval from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
